REPORT OF THE FIRST CHINA HOME LIFE NIGERIA 2018 HELD ON WEDNESDAY 5TH TO FRIDAY 7” SEPTEMBER 2018 AT EKO CONVENTION CENTRE VICTORIA ISLAND LAGOS, NIGERIA.

INTRODUCTION:

The African Legacy International, a strategic partner to Meorient International  in Shenghen, China    successfully hosted the First China Home Life event held on 5th to 7th September 2018 at Eko Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.  The event succeeded in bringing good number of Chinese manufacturers, and entrepreneurs to interface with the Nigerian counterparts as such created the deepened  economic foreign relationship and diplomacy with China mainland. The Organizers, Meorient Shenghen and its partner; African Legacy International planned the event as one of their corporate functions to address challenges militating against the economic development of the country and mostly as one of their onerous contribution to the development of the nation through trade facilitation and investment.

The event attracted no fewer than thousands of business acumen, captains of Industries, Diplomats, Government officials, Importers and Exporters, Local traders, stockiest, Investment Consultants, and Business groups, among others.

The event was declared open by Mr. Gao Hongliang, the Commercial Consul of the Economic and Commercial Section of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos, Nigeria, in a lineup of VIPs and Diplomats who were selected dignitaries that cut the ribbon. The Expo and the business of the day commenced with goodwill messages from notable VIPs and corporate organizations supporting the lofty idea and effort of the organizers of the event to host the long awaited First China Home Life Nigeria in total defiance of security situation and other rearing heads of challenges. The second and the day of the event was the exhibition and exposition of Chinese manufactured goods and services.

Welcome Address by the Chinese Consul

Mr. Gao Hongliang, the Commercial Consul of the Economic and Commercial Section of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos, Nigeria welcomed participants, stakeholders etc. to the event and stated that Chinese Government is prepared to use this approach to create a platform for a paradigm shift in Nigeria trade activities and achieve a steady economic progression in value creation, increase in industrial activities and mass employment opportunities.

China Home Life Nigeria 2018 is an amazing opportunity for Nigerian firms that are looking for reliable supplier of high quality products, to access the needful without travelling to China. The business forum shall provide opportunity for Nigerian traders and business men/women to meet Chinese suppliers face to face without travelling to China and bearing all the expenses. Presently, China Home Life organizes exhibitions in thirteen (13) major countries annually and for the very first time it would bring the event to Nigeria. This is premised on several calls and request for the event which has the propensity to create the much-required opportunities that will open several windows of commercial ventures to tap the rich natural potentials of Nigerian business community.

He reiterated that Chinese economy has grown steadily from developing stage to advance economy which is touted to be one of the biggest economies in the world. It has all the features and potentials to overtake the USA and Japanese economy in 2030. It is recalled that the advance economics especially the USA had deplored this strategy China is offering to capture and dominate sectors of economies of developing countries on the past.

He charged that this rare opportunity for Nigeria and other developing economics should be seized for their national economic growth and development. He further stated that about 300 Chinese companies had articulated the business ideas and products into the programme which will translate positively into the Nigeria business environment. It is now left for Nigerian business community to dissect and comparatively embrace Chinese investment and products which is affordable against the hitherto expensive and intricate business opportunities from other countries.

The Commercial Consul therefore enjoins participants to avail themselves of the opportunity to interact, network and create business relationship with the investors from China mainland.

THE EXHIBITION:

The exhibition session of the programme witnessed a display from three hundred (300) Chinese stands show casing diverse products and services. The products displayed were; electronics, Hands/table phones, computer accessories and consumables, kitchen ware, articles, textiles, foot wears, undies, sports equipment, auto spare parts, building materials, furniture’s and sundries.

The Nigerian business community flooded the venue of the event to fill a practical sense and glimpse of the products and services from mainland China.

It was attested that the quantity and quality of the goods and its commensurate prizes would meet the demands of about 200 million Nigeria population. Important thing to note is the display of disposable eating plates and spoon manufactured from organic matters like the rice/grain husk. All the regulatory and quality assurances organizations present at the occasion further attested that the products were of high standard.

The three days exhibition cum exposure of Chinese products and investment really sparked of the expected business interactions, negotiations, idea exchanges and appointments from both Nigeria and China.

The event is observed to be characterized by the following;

  1. Establishment of economic relationship with China mainland in trade and investment.
  2. The presence of Chinese investors in Nigeria for interaction with Nigeria counterparts.
  3. The Nigeria business community avail themselves of the opportunity provided by the event.
  4. The event attracted high profile attendees both from public and private sectors.
  5. Variety of goods and services from China were displayed for public assessment.
  6. Many of the goods displayed were recent innovation from science and Technology research and development.
  7. There were dinners segment for each day of the event which provided fun to  the participants.

CLOSING REMARKS:

The closing remarks the Chairman, African legacy International, Engr. Innocent Ogu  thanked the attendees from both countries and promised that the next edition of the event shall hold on May, 2019 in same Venue. This according to the Chairman is to build and consolidate on the achievement of the 2018 First China Home Life event in Nigeria.

Recommendation and Prospect of 2019 China Home Life Event

Major stakeholders join the African Legacy International to have a preview of the 2019 edition with view of improve on the maiden edition. Thereafter it was recommended as follows:

  • New products from the latest science and innovation efforts would be showcase.
  • The exhibition will attract both domestic and industrial machines and equipment.
  • There will be a step-up effort to bring more manufacturing companies, sales outfits, consultants etc. to the next event in Nigeria.
  • Government at all levels, Federal, State and Local Government shall be drawn to be present at the next event.
  • Small and Medium companies shall form the fulcrum of participants at the next edition.
  • Financial Institution especially banks shall be involved to provide financial services and business feasibility studies to interested businessmen/women for the Chinese investment and trade.

CONCLUSION

The First Chinese Home Life Nigeria event was successfully hosted in Lagos, Nigeria.

The organizers work assiduously despite challenges to ensure the  event was conducted as scheduled.

The attendees to the event were overwhelmed with the exhibition and  variety of products and thereafter adjudged the event a successful and  worthwhile.
